So they say, "the older you get the faster time goes", or "the more fun you have the faster time goes". Well I must be a real old dude who's having a blast because damn, time is flying by! Sitting here on the first Sunday morning in 2008 I've realized that this first week in the new year has already ended, seems like it just started. then again, all of last year went by fast, i think I had the same thoughts last year after its first week! Is life really going to keep up its steady increase of faster moving days and nights, will days seem like minutes when we are older? maybe when your younger time goes by fast just the same, but we don't notice it because when you young, you don't work and have really know obligations to time, other than school. I sat in class constantly looking at the clock waiting and hoping to end the day, so I could go skate or play ball, so time was always on my mind then?

I think I started thinking more about time when I was done with college, when the world becomes more of your own, and you live more for yourself and deal with the worlds curve balls and your own things. Ive always heard about time going by faster as you get older, but always thought, I couldn't wait, to feel older and grown up and to busy to sit and realize things, now its constant, now I see, now I want to make every second count, now its time to get things going, now its time to live.

Recently I have been reading about the "anti hype" craze that has been a major part of our subculture this past year. Maybe shouldn't say sub-culture anymore, see I'm guilty to! Being "anti" everything has kind of become the new cool guy stance amongst people like ourselves, not ot call us cool or anyhting, but you know, that was the term used for the people that were originally up on certain things, before all the blogs, and mags and commercials got a hold of stuff. After reading and thinking about it, I realized that I have taken a huge part in the "anti hype" movement as well, this past year especially! I've noted to myself how much I've been on this stance lately, with certain releases of product, new comer brands, people acting in certain ways that they didn't act like before. But some things have pissed me off this past year. Like our sneaker culture for instance, when does it become cool to have a $50,000 sneaker, or to have something that everyone waited in line for? It use to be about originality in everything, now people are scared to look different so they seek out what the next guy has. All this to me is the reason why I'm "anti" it. I've never wanted to look like the next guy or needed anything sneaker wise that I had to wait in line for. I dont even like waiting in the blockbuster line, let alone the line to buy some Nikes. The market is just way to saturated for me and alot of others. I guess my gripe is that alot of uncool people made alot of my favorite things uncool. sorry to sound cocky, but I really cherished certain things up until this year, now, I could give a shit. Why do I want to look like that dude, who doesn't respect it, doesnt know the knowledge and is acting like a dumbass. One of my favorite sites now is Satchel of Gravel. This site hits it right on the head when talking about what our so called culture can look like to some of us.

Please don't get me wrong, I still love a nice pair of sneakers but come on, the feeling of it is gone. I guess its a natural progression, up then down, but I don't see it getting back to what it once was. I think when the mainstream gets a hold of it its gone. I've found myself wearing a pair of black chucks everyday, just to be different and selling off all my other shoes, I dont just blame the consumer either, I blame the companies for selling out, making product to available for purchase, lacing up every other store with the same crap, jacking up the prices, releasing a "special" or my favorite "exclusive" something, and then re releasing it 3 months later. We've become a victim of our society, our wants kicks our needs ass over and over again. When will it stop, when can we just go back to not caring about having the latest and greatest and just go back to enjoying a dope pair of shoes or a cool tee, because we like it.

My "anti" stance doesn't just stop with fashion, oh it also goes with music to. I swear I can sit here and complain about the state of music for days, as I'm sure much of you would agree, this last year has got to be the worst year in the history of music, in all categories, not just Rap(I wont call it hip hop anymore) but in R&B, pop, rock all of it. Filled with one hit wonders and corny people. It kills me to see people giving in to what they are told sounds good and excepting what this bullshit DJ's and radio stations play on the air, I can't remember the last time I listened to the radio and was like wow, this is dope, I mean, garbage, straight trash, everything sounds the same, cheap manufactured music, done with low budget bullshit that sounds the same over and over. Im not the only one that agrees with this, a whole world agrees. I read peoples blogs from all over, from Berlin, to Japan and back again, they all agree, it's time for the tipping point, where we take back whats ours, start making better music again, start finding new outlets for enjoyment and taking what belongs to us, our culture, because we have lost it some how, taken right out from under our noses.

This will be my last "ANTI HYPE" rant for the year, Im going to focus on things closer to home and come with a positive attitude, because you know what, I dont care anymore, you can have all the things I just bitched about, its yours world take, because you already have it.

The first trip to the mall or the holiday mall as I will call it was experienced yesterday, damn people. Its not even Black Friday or the day after thanksgiving yet, its not even thanksgiving yet. By the way I hate the phrase "black friday", seriously what asshole coined that phrase, I bet you I know........anyways back to my rant, it was already insane in their, people just running around probably doing what I was doing, scoping the scene, checking things out, asking about possible maybe sales happening. I couldnt help to notice that 80% of the people working and or shopping just looked unhappy, like they didnt want to really be their, or maybe because EVERY major street leading up to the mall has some sort of construction on it and your time traveled is doubled, this might be a reason????? I just couldn't help to notice this, I mean the kids seem to like it, ofcoarse we all did at that age, the mysterious feeling of what is Santa getting me would run through you for weeks until that glorious morning of tearing open all those gifts. Now, yeah its work, do get me wrong, I LOVE buying gifts for my loved ones, but the whole shopping experience will just leave a bad taste in your mouth, people fighting to get that "hot" item or that super close parking spot, man I thought I was going to get into a fight with these two moms, because I stole the parking spot, yeah I read lips too! Maybe because of the lack of great products being released has something to do with it, yeah there is some great stuff out, but think about nothing that hasn't been already out, I mean the market in everything just seems stale to me. The Mac store is full of nice gifts, but really I'm not buying 12 iMac's this Christmas.
Because of this year going by so fast like it has, kind of messed me up for these holiday's, they came too quick. Christmas is a month away, so "get up, get and out and do something", because its going to be survival of the fittest out their and I wish all of you luck.

It s been 1 month and 3 days of complete freedom or another way of looking at it would be unemployment. has it been fun, well, not really, the first few days for me were great, a feeling of accomplishment ran thru me. Realizing that for the last few years i worked really hard and accomplished a few things I wanted too get done, but after this goes away(not completely) but just enough to forget about it and all your friends you call are busy at work, things get really boring. I mean have you watched tv during the day, horrible, but that will be a whole other topic of discussion. After you vaccum and dust and clean the kitchen your day becomes really boring. See Im an early riser, I get up every morning by 8am and get all the stuff that I thought I need to get down by noon. Yeah, I read and yeah I play on the internet, and ofcoarse view all 49 blogs on my list, yep I have 49 of them, the day goes by real slow. I guess what I am trying to say is that I enjoy a hard days work, I never would of thought I'd be saying that, I mean I always have, but I really figured it out. I have a problem feeling accomplished on a daily if Im not working. Laziness is not my thing and neither is being so bored that I just stay signed on to myspace all day. I'm ready to get back into the game.

I would like to think that I live by a certain code, wait I know I live by a code, not sure the name of it, maybe its "a good code" or " the right code", maybe it doesn't have a name, maybe because its natural, or maybe because it was taught by my parents? No, maybe its natural and most of it was taught by my parents thru family values, yeah maybe thats it? Through out history we've all heard about codes, the "samurai code", or the "secret code" and "code of honor"............but what exactly is a "code"? Well one of the definition's I have chosen is this........

Systematically, they say, and chapters too! Yeah, I think we can look at our lives as a bunch of chapters re-arranged systematically to form single or multiple events that have shaped and or will shape us for the future. Within in these chapters of life we give ourselves laws to live by, rules to follow, values to live up to, hope that the next person sees it the same as we do. Just maybe, and I say maybe, we can all relate and share these same codes with each other. Here is the first few codes that I follow.

I've learned something this weekend, a valuable note to self if you will, I learned or maybe just realized that no matter the length of time, or distance apart people stay the same, its the circumstances that change, not the person, It's good seeing people you havent seen in awhile and taking note that they are the exact same person they were when you last saw them. After thinking about this, I then realized this about the people I see everyday, or twice a week, or once a month, people stay the same but the circumstances change. My circumstances have changed recently, being on a work vacation, for me way too long now, I figured it might take a toll on me, but it hasn't because im the same person day in and day out, even though my circumstances have changed I still act and think the same way towards the same things. People must adapt and act accordingly to what is placed in front of them, whether it is good or bad people must adapt, but inside we stay the same. You hear people say "oh this person has changed" etc etc, no they havent, they've always been like this, but now their circumstances have made them adapt.“We cannot change our past. I've been a huge fan of the BMX world most of my life even though I was raised on a skateboard. I've always had plenty of repspect for the BMX guys. It takes great athleticism to do what they do, plus its right up there with the level of difficulty that skateing consist of. Im looking forward to seeing this whole video. Now that I think about it, I've got alot of purchasing to do besides this video.

I was in vegas this past week working for the store and I took zero pics. I planned on taking alot prior to going out their, even took my camera with me! But when I got out their I realized that I didnt have the time(appointments from 9am till 11pm everyday) and just wasnt feeling it! It seemed like many had people following them around taking pics for blogs and myspace, for real, it was kinda of funny, I had some deep conversations with some of the people that actually started this whole craze years ago, I heard some really great insights from them! I must say I really enjoyed myself this past week, saw some really great things! Now I touched on this a little bit in my last post about my friend Dam who was shot during a robbery at his Navy Blu store a couple of Friday's ago. Well the events and circumstances have continued! Just this past Sunday a good friend of ours was duct taped at gunpoint and robbed in the store she worked at sometime around 5 pm on Sunday. The following morning P Valentine was robbed again for the second time in one week. RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!! This brings the number to I believe 18 shops, all robbed for their denim selection........GONE.......... In a few cases like this past Sunday, women have been taped or tied up at gunpoint during the day and robbed. The problem we have here is that nothing outside of the shops is being done! The cops really seem like they don't want to be involved, no media has even touched on the subject until last night, which by the way was cut and edited so much compared to the online version it seemed like the matter wasn't even an issue. To my knowledge no radio dj's have even touched on the subject, even though they shop in most of the boutiques. Now, I know their is many other serious matters that occur in Atlanta everyday, crazy and serious crimes all the time, but this matter has just gotten to the point where it has got to be some sort of entertainment to these assholes. Running up in a store during the day and tieing people up for jeans is just the sign of the times I guess! I hate saying this but its true. Have we become a society so materialistic that this kind of thing has become a day to day occurance? I know robbing and stealing has always been apart of society but to use guns and physical contact for denim is just insane. What can we do about this? I don't know anymore. I mean why should they stop? They are batting a 1,000 here, no one has been caught. I know alot of the shop owners are getting together and getting security extra tight, but I'm upset that the city and voices of our town aren't talking about this more. Maybe they will or have and I've just missed it. With all this being said, I wish everyone safety and awareness. Lets all work together and find a solution to all this nonsense.

I saw this video earlier today and it just reminded me of all the sh$t I went thru while growing up skating! This is super ridiculous, play close attention to the cop choking the young female. All this happened on national go skate day! I'm sure this cops efforts and energy could have been focused on other cases, especially in Arkansas! Last Night's GZA show.

Oh again and again.......Scion once again gave us ATL heads another great night. Last month it was De La Soul and last night was the GZA who performed with Fyre Department, which just killed it up on stage. DJ Klever started out the night on the decks and reminded all of us just how great of a Hip Hop DJ he is. It's good to have great friends in high places, because of Kid Kaos and DJ Klever I had a all-access backstage pass during the show all night. You know I had my camera with me!

After years of false starts and delays, the Wu-Tang Clan will release a new studio album, "8 Diagram," this summer via SRC Records. According to principal member RZA, the album will include an unreleased performance from the late Ol' Dirty Bastard and a long-in-the-works tribute to the artist dubbed "Life Changes."

SRC founder Steve Rifkind has a long association with Wu-Tang dating back to its seminal 1993 debut, "Enter the 36 Chambers," released on his Loud Records label.

After years of inactivity, the group reunited to play the Rock the Bells festival in California in 2004 (released as the CD/DVD "Disciples of the 36 Chambers") and staged a North American tour last year. Wu-Tang Clan has not released a new album since 2001's "Iron Flag."

"People want something that gives them an adrenaline rush," RZA said in a statement. "We're here to supply that fix. How could hip-hop be dead if Wu-Tang is forever? We're here to revive the spirit and the economics and bring in a wave of energy that has lately dissipated."

RZA has actually been pushing for a return to the studio for several years, but he conceded that coordinating the members' busy schedules and meeting their financial needs were formidable obstacles.

"I know everybody has a lifestyle they have to maintain," he told Billboard.com in February 2005. "Let's just say a Wu-Tang Clan album is worth a couple million dollars. Once 10 guys get on it, it's still worth a couple hundred grand. Some guys' lifestyles require them to make five or six hundred thousand dollars a year regardless. Maybe doing Wu-Tang will make you that much money, but doing it by yourself could you make you a million, because there aren't so many hands involved. But for the legacy, I think we should be willing to make that sacrifice and get it cracking."

" Tracing the lineage of today’s streetwear inevitably leads you to Shawn Stussy’s story. Still recovering from my weekend trip too the Queen City, Charlotte, N.C. I rode up their with my homie Cory to visit some long time friends and also to visit some new ones. for me it was a good change of pace and a overall great experience, especially seeing how the scene their reminds me of how things are here amongst our scene. Many thanks goes to Henry, Myk and Bobby from Niche for the great hospitality and good fun! These guys love what they do and are making quite the impact on the local community by doing what they do! Step 3: Imagine having a dope ride, but never actually have rode in it. This will get you excited and will make you want to sing about it.

Step 4: Pretend that you are the person you know that sells drugs.

Step 5; Also pretend to have a shit load of diamonds. Oh wait I think diamonds are for women, nevermind, if your a guy ignore this, becuase we all know a whole track about wearing diamonds could only come from a women.

Step 6: This last step is important. Get a real easy made beat (like one that took 5 minutes to make). This won't cost much money and it will be a real catchy tune.

Wu-Tang Clan's reunion with Loud Records founder Steve Rifkind is official, as the group has announced a new album titled 8 Diagrams, which will hit stores this summer on Rifkind's SRC label, through Universal Records.

8 Diagrams, which is named after a Kung-Fu epic, is the the first new album from Wu-Tang Clan in six years.

The album will feature RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon the Chef, Ghostface Killah, Inspektah Deck, Masta Killa and U-God, all original members of the Wu-Tang Clan.

The new album will also contain an unreleased performance that will show fans why deceased group member Ol' Dirty Bastard "was considered one of the illest MCs ever," before dying of a heart attack in Nov. 2004.

“This is the perfect time for us to come back, the stars are aligned,” RZA said. “It’s like when we first started with Steve. We put out real hip-hop at a time when it was turning into pop or R&B. We brought the focus back to the music in its rawest form, without studio polish or radio hooks.”

RZA founded the group with GZA and the late Ol' Dirty Bastard, who is memorialized on the song “Life Changes."

The group has released several groundbreaking albums including Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) (1993), Wu-Tang Forever (1997) and 2001's Iron Flag.

According to the RZA, the new album will be a "conjunction of creative and corporate thinking by the whole group.”
